About The Event
PA Herpetology Workshop: 10:00 am-2:30 pm - “ PA Herpetology 101” - Want to learn more about the natural history of the reptile and amphibian species that call Pennsylvania home? Join naturalist April Claus as she helps you sharpen your “herp” identification skills at Laurel Hill State Park. This hands-on interactive workshop introduces you to the more common reptiles and amphibians of Pennsylvania! Learn how to identify frogs and toads by their call, examine touchable models, and learn how to identify the venomous snakes that live in our area. Meet and touch some LIVE snakes, toads, turtles, and salamanders! Bring your boots and be ready to get dirty as we search different habitats for “herptiles." You will be amazed at the important role these animals play in our local ecosystem! This program is geared towards adults and children with a strong interest in herpetology. Children under the age of 18 should be accompanied by an adult. All participants should bring a brown bag lunch and plenty of water to drink for the day.
